Introducing: Beardraks

I am always a list maker. Movies, games, albums, even the best Burrito near me. I can’t help but sort, compare, and rank them. This is fun, but also a way to bring regularity to the endless chaos of choice. Over the years, I have used spreadsheets, note applications, and even pieces of paper to track my ranking. None of them feel right. So I build something better.

Today, I like to share it with the world: Beardraks.

Why did I build it

This application starts as a tool for me. I want a simple, fast, and flexible way to give any ranking. I don’t want to fight with a clumsy UI or force my mind into a rigid format. I just want a fun part: comparing head-to-head things, building a list of levels, and entertaining my wife with blind ranking.

What started as a side project quickly turned into something that I could not stop. And then I realized: if I really like this, maybe other people too. Beardraks was born from the realization. This began as a simple web application that I built in a few nights. Because I have published two other iOS applications, this is the next step.

How it works

Beardraks makes it easy. You start with a list, movies, games, books, anything that is important to you. Then you let the application guide you:

• Head-to-head battle: Compare two items and select your winner. This application then gives you a complete ranking list of all items that you compare.
• List of levels: Drag and drop items to the level, style of play.
• Blind rating: Present items in a random list, then you are forced to choose ranking without knowing what will happen next. It’s good to hand over your cellphone to your friends to try.

Starting takes a few minutes. This application guides you through everything step by step, so you spend more time ranking and fewer time to work on.

Ranking pleasure

There is something that is uniquely satisfying to see your personal order formed. Maybe your five top films are not the same as other people. Maybe you know that you have underestimated your favorite band for years. Beardranks make the process not only possible but also fun.

I found myself to achieve it when I finished the game, when I finished the TV season, or even when debating the best fried potato shape. This is a light way to capture your preferences, and over time, you build a snapshot from your taste.

Privacy Problems

I am always aware of applications that collect more than they give. Beardraks is different. Your list is yours. All your data remains safe on your device, under your control. Nobody left unless you chose to share it. For now, it’s free. My time is not cheap, but as a hobby project, I can give gifts to the world of this simple application.
