Muslims are asked not to speculate on holiday dates
Muslims in Malaysia are advised to do this do not speculate about the actual date of Shawwal 1st and asked to wait for an official announcement from religious authorities.

Method of Determining Holidays in Malaysia
Determining the start of Ramadan and holidays in Malaysia as well as several countries in the Southeast Asia region and several other Islamic countries is based on observations and calculations or better known as rukyah and hisab.
Among the contents of the resolution of the Hilal Conference of Islamic Countries in Istanbul in 1978 stated ‘the original law is to see the crescent moon, either with the physical eye or using modern tools; used astronomical calculations to determine the beginning of the month provided that the crescent moon was above the horizon and could be seen after sunset’.
To determine the possibility of the appearance of the new moon (Imkanur Rukyah) several criteria have been established.
Through this method of coordinating rukyah and reckoning, the date of sighting of the crescent moon is set on the 29th day of the month of Hijrah.
Announcement of crescent sighting dates will be made by the Keeper of the Grand Seal of the King’s Council along with a list of official crescent sighting locations.
On that date, an official delegation led by the State Mufti and his committee will observe the new moon at a predetermined location.
Whether the crescent moon is clearly visible or not, the crescent moon is considered visible in the calculation if it meets the Imkanur Rukyah criteria.
The announcement of the date of fasting and Eid al-Fitr will be announced via mass media by the Guardian of the Great Seal of the King’s Council as soon as reports are received from all over the country.
In several other countries, the rulers determine the rukyah method only at the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. This means that if the crescent moon is not visible on the day of the appearance, then the next day will be the 30th day.
So it is not surprising that there are differences in the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr between countries because of the different ways of determining them.
As a citizen residing in a country, you are obliged to follow and obey the provisions issued by the state ruler (Ulul Amri).
