About STR

STR, previously known as Malaysian Family Assistance, provides cash assistance to Malaysians from B40 and M40 individuals and households, as well as the elderly.

This program aims to ease the financial burden and improve the welfare of eligible recipients.

This aims to ensure that low-income households are still provided with appropriate assistance through the assistance provided.

This is also one of the initiatives in the Umbrella Rahmah concept highlighted by the MADANI Government which also involves the collaboration of three ministries, namely the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Ministry of Economy.

By 2026, STR assistance will benefit nearly 9 MILLION recipients including the low-income group (B40) and some of the M40 group (household income up to RM5,000).

Additionally, around 700,000 poor and very poor STR recipients will receive an additional RM1,200 (RM100 per month) through non-cash purchases using MyKad.

2026 STR Recipient Category

The categories of recipients who will receive this assistance are as follows:

i- Household Contents

• Married; or
• Single Mother or Father/Widow/Widower who has eligible children; And
• Household income is RM5,000 and below.

ii- Unmarried Elderly

• Single Mother or Single Mother or Father/Widow/Widower who does not have children who meet the requirements; And
• Age limit 60 years and over; And
• Elderly Income Without Spouse is RM5,000 and below.

iii- Single

• Single income is RM2,500 and below.
• Single Mother or Single Mother or Father/Widow/Widower who does not have children who meet the requirements; And
• Age limit 21-59 years; And
• Single Persons with Disabilities (OKU) aged 19 years and over; And
• Not a full-time IPTA/IPTS student; And
• Single income is RM2,500 and below.

STR Pay Rate 2026

The payments that STR recipients will receive in 2026 are as follows:

Payment Method

STR 2026 payment methods are divided into several ways according to the eligibility category and recipient’s bank account status.

1. Direct Credit to Bank Account

This is the primary method for most recipients who have an active bank account. The aid money will automatically go to the applicant’s or partner’s bank account who has registered in the MySTR system.

• Phase 1 Dates: Payment starts on January 20, 2026 slowly.
• Banks Involved: All valid local banks (Maybank, CIMB, BSN, RHB, etc.).

2. Cash at the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) counter.

This method is specifically for recipients who are in the following situations:

• No bank account registered.
• Payment status is “Credit Failure” (example: inactive or frozen bank account).

You only need to bring your original MyKad to any BSN branch nationwide if the payment status is displayed as “Cash”.

3. MyKad Credit (Asas Rahmah Contribution – SARA)

Starting in 2026, assistance in the form of SARA will be provided for the Single category. Assistance is credited directly to the recipient’s identity card (MyKad).

This money cannot be withdrawn in cash, but is used to buy basic necessities at supermarkets and certain retail stores (such as Speedmart, Lotus’s, Giant, etc.).

• Single SARA payment date: Starting 16 January 2026 (RM50 a month).

STR 2026 Payment Method (Without Bank Account)

For recipients in this category, payments are made via cash withdrawal at the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) counter. across the country.

For 2026, Phase 1 payments begin gradually in January 20, 2026. Beneficiaries without accounts can attend BSN starting that date.

Documents to Bring

For aid disbursement matters, make sure you bring the following original documents:

• Identity Card (MyKad) genuine applicant.
• Copy MyKad (as preparation).

Claims by Representative

If the recipient is elderly or unable to attend, only registered representative only allowed to submit a claim. Representatives need to bring:

Proof of relationship (if necessary).

• Representative’s origin identification card.
• Copy of recipient’s identity card.

STR 2026 Phase 1 Payment Date

Payment of Rahmah Cash Contributions (STR) Phase 1 in 2026 will begin to be distributed January 22, 2026 (Thursday) for the National Savings Bank.

Recipients will receive between RM100 – RM500 according to their respective qualifications.

For those who do not have a bank account (including Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan), payments can be claimed in cash at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches in stages according to qualification categories.

Important Dates for STR & SARA 2026

The following are important dates for STR 2026 & SARA 2026 payments:

• January 9: Monthly SARA (Household/Elderly) begins.
• January 12 – February 13: Stage 1 STR Appeal Period (For Failed status).
• January 16: Monthly SARA (Single) begins.
• January 20: STR Cash Payment Phase 1 begins.
• February 9: Credit RM100 “SARA For All” (All adults 18+).

How to Check 2026 STR Status

Before coming to the bank, make sure you check your eligibility status and payment information online first.

1. Visit STR Official Portal: .
2. Click on the button MySTR login.
3. Entering MyKad number and click ‘Check’.
4. Confirming Security Keywords You.
5. Entering Password and click ‘Sign in’.
6. Select the menu Application/Payment Review to see the status.

Use: If the status is displayed “Cash” or “Credit Failure”You have the right to submit a claim at the bank counter.

STR Appeal 2026

For STR applications Not pass Stage 1, an appeal request can be made January 12 to February 13, 2026.
