JAKARTA-India on Friday (6/6/2025) reported that the total number of Covid-19 cases actively reached 5,364 with an additional four new deaths in the last 24-hour period. As many as two deaths occurred in Kerala, followed by one death from Karnataka, and one from Puducherry. Kerala is recorded as the most affected area, with active cases exceeding 1,600. This situation has triggered efforts to increase awareness from the authorities.
The Ministry of Health and Indian Family Welfare noted that as many as 564 new COVID-19 cases were reported on the same day, which brought the total number of active cases close to 5,000. Along with the increase in cases, the local government, especially in the state of Maharashtra, has issued an appeal to tighten the health protocol. All administrative heads, including regents and city commissioners, were asked to follow the COVID-19 handling guidelines more stringently.
In the circular issued, the authorities emphasize the importance of the availability of medical facilities, including isolation, oxygen, and personal protective equipment (APD). It is also emphasized that simulation exercises must be done to ensure the readiness of the reaction in handling the surge in cases. “Emphasis must be given to the availability of diagnostics and important medicines,” said the Ministry.
The Delhi region also experienced pressure with 592 active cases, of which only around 1,200 RT-PCR tests were conducted per day. The lack of this test makes the situation more worrying, and health experts continue to urge the community to comply with prevention steps. All elderly citizens and those who have accompanying diseases are asked to avoid the crowd and keep their distance.
The new Covid-19 variants that dominate today include JN1, XFG, and LF 7.9 variants, which generally cause mild symptoms such as fever, coughing, and sore throat. Most of those infected can recover without intensive care, but the government still encourages strict supervision related to the development of the case.
On the other hand, this situation shows a broader picture of the resilience of the Indian health system. In recent years, India has experienced a big wave of Pandemic, and health officials are now trying to avoid similar crises by promoting various anticipatory steps. With past experience, the government focuses on the development of health facilities in the long run, including the provision of ventilator and adequate ICU beds.
As an additional step, the Ministry has determined that all data related to COVID-19 must be entered regularly into the official platform to facilitate monitoring the emergency situation. All regional heads are asked to record detailed information and report to the Central Ministry.
In the global context, the surge of this case is also a concern of the world, especially with a shift in new variants that are constantly evolving. Pandemi Covid-19 is still not over, and many countries are still struggling to get stability in the midst of various challenges.
With cases that continue to increase in India, people’s attention to comply with health guidelines is very important in maintaining the safety of themselves and the people around. This situation reminds that although we are trying to return to normal life, Covid-19 remains a threat that must be watched out and addressed comprehensively.
