The Sarong Railway event has become an annual tradition since it was first held in 2012. In 2025, the Sarong Train entered its 9th year and once again celebrated Malaysia’s Day.

This event shows the creativity of Malaysians in promoting traditional culture and at the same time shows a strong sense of unity.

Thousands of participants from various backgrounds will collect traditional clothes and veil and use public transportation to participate in the event.

INTRODUCTION & HISTORY OF SARONG RAILROADS

The Sarong Railway Program is a “Flash Mob” program where people gather and celebrate Malaysia’s Day together.

Then, participants will use a series of public train services such as infrastructure, MRT, KTM, ERL and MAB and through a series of selected routes while wearing a veil.

This year’s theme emphasizes the pride of the people to the culture, achievement and unity of Malaysia. This event is also open to international participants to experience Malaysian cultural wealth.

From the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Pasir Mas, Kuantan to the Farmers River, as well as international cities such as London, Paris and Munich.
