The 2025 Dual Language Program Assessment Test (UPDLP) for English subjects recorded a high pass rate this year.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that English subjects recorded a pass rate of 90.97%, followed by Science (84.71%) and Mathematics (61.01%).
He said this excellence was driven by the high level of student concentration and the strength of skilled teaching staff.
“With improving English performance, this does not mean that we reduce our efforts, on the contrary, we will increase training and strengthen science and mathematics educational equipment,” he said.
Therefore, he appealed to all stakeholders in the education sector to formulate strategies to improve the quality of science and mathematics learning.
Datuk Sri Roland explained this in a press conference at his office in Kuching this morning.
This year, a total of 29,000 Grade 6 students across the state took part in UPDLP 2025, involving 1,050 public and private schools.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) UPDLP
The Sarawak UPDLP or Sarawak Dual Language Program Assessment Test is a standardized exam for Grade 6 students across Sarawak designed to assess students’ skills and knowledge in STEM fields.
Students studying in Grade 6 in schools participating in the DLP Sarawak program are eligible to take the DLP Sarawak Assessment Test (UP-DLP Sarawak).
All eligible students will be pre-registered through the UP-DLP Portal by the Sarawak State Education Department and confirmed by their respective schools.
UP-DLP Sarawak will be implemented in October 2025.
The assessment will be carried out over two days:
Day 1: English and Mathematics
Day 2: Science
Each subject in the UP-DLP Sarawak assessment will be assessed through a combination of multiple choice and short answer questions – except Mathematics which consists entirely of short answer questions.
The UP-DLP Sarawak assessment was introduced as a standardized assessment to objectively measure student performance in the subjects of Science, Mathematics and English. This assessment will help students, parents and schools to make more accurate decisions about future learning directions. UP-DLP Sarawak will serve as the primary instrument for tracking student progress in STEM education, as well as providing an objective benchmark of academic achievement at the end of Grade 6.
