The House of Representatives Commission I has completed a fit and proper test for 24 Indonesian Ambassador candidates this afternoon, which took place at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. This process is an important step in the placement of the ambassadors for various countries and produces a series of feasibility tests and the propriety test that began on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I, Budisatrio Djiwandono, explained that the fit and proper test session was divided into four sessions, each of which was attended by six candidates for the ambassador. The completion of this test reflects the readiness of twenty-four candidates in starting their diplomatic tasks going forward. “We have completed all candidates for the Ambassador who took part in this fit and proper test. The last six only finished some time ago,” said Budi.
Interestingly, Budisatrio also expressed confidence in the quality of the candidates. According to him, they have strong experience and networks in destination countries, which will be very useful in carrying out their diplomatic tasks. “For me personally, I am satisfied with government choices. All have been through evaluation and careful consideration,” he added.
This fit and proper test process aims to ensure that the candidates have the required qualifications before being inaugurated. This test session not only tests their knowledge of foreign relations but also the communication and diplomacy capabilities needed in their duties. With a strong background in the world of diplomacy, candidates are expected to bring the good name of Indonesia on the international arena.
Not only that, Budisatrio also stressed that the implementation of the fit and proper test was carried out objectively. He acknowledged that all candidates had carried out this test well, showing their competencies and readiness in carrying out the role of Ambassador. “I consider that prospective ambassadors are able to run a fit and proper test well,” he explained.
A total of 24 candidates who have gone through this process came from various backgrounds, including careers in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various other important positions. Their experience includes interaction with international parties that will be very useful in establishing better relations between Indonesia and friendly countries.
The community is also waiting for the final result of this process, because the right placement of the Ambassador is very important for Indonesian diplomacy in the current global era. Along with the development of global issues, the role of the ambassador is increasingly vital in conveying foreign policy and building bilateral cooperation.
The House of Representatives Commission I hopes that the decision to be taken after this fit and proper test can have a positive impact on Indonesia’s foreign policy. The success of the Ambassador in carrying out their duties is very dependent on their ability to develop diplomatic strategies and answer the challenges faced by the state.
That way, through this series of feasibility tests, Commission I not only carries out legislative duties, but also contributes to strengthening Indonesia’s position on the global stage. The community continues to look forward to official news about who will be appointed as the new Indonesian Ambassador and diplomatic steps to be taken.
