What is Maternity Assistance (BIB)?

Maternity Assistance 2025 (BIB) is one of the initiatives of the Sarawak State Government by providing RM 450.00 in cash to every “K” category mother who gives birth to help with the mother’s postnatal needs such as healthy nutrition and self-care during the confinement period, starting in 2020 regardless of race, religion or socio-economic status.

Chief Minister YAB Sarawak in presenting the 2020 APBN at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference on 4 November 2019 has announced Maternity Assistance of RM450.00 for every mother giving birth starting 1 January 2020.

YAB Premier Sarawak has announced to continue implementing the BIB initiative in 2026.

Eligibility Conditions

Following are the eligibility requirements to apply for pregnancy assistance in the state of Sarawak.

• Must be a Malaysian citizen
• Must give birth within or outside Sarawak
• The mother is a MyKAD Sarawak holder with ‘K’ status or the wife of a MyKAD Sarawak holder with “K” status; And
• Applications can be made from 22 weeks of gestation to 3 months after giving birth.

The completed form must be sent to the Social Welfare Service/Residential Office/District Office/Early Childhood Development Department, KWKPK.

However, if you register online, all supporting documents only need to be attached once when filling out the form online.

Mandatory Documents to Include

The documents that must be included with the application form are as follows:

• Photocopy of mother’s KTP/Passport
• Photocopy of KTP/Passport of husband/wife or guardian
• Photocopy of marriage certificate if the applicant does not have “K” status.
• Copy the front page of the pregnant mother’s health record book
• Copy of latest bank account statement
• Photocopy of doctor’s certificate/discharge note/baby’s birth certificate or pregnancy certificate of 22 weeks or more from a medical officer

Note : All copies of documents must be certified by a Federal or State Government Official (Group A Class 41 and above) or a Tribal or Community Chief (except for online applications).

How to Apply for Maternity Assistance 2026 Sarawak

Starting January 1 2026, all Maternity Assistance (BIB) applications must be made ONLY online via the sarawak.gov.my portal and integrated with SarawakPASS.

Online Application

• To register online, please open the submit new document link and follow the instructions below.
• After the application is completed and complete documents are submitted, a review by KPWK will take between 7 and 14 working days.
• Then, the payment process also takes 1 week.
• Applicants will receive payment notification via email.

Important Information

i) Applications MUST be made starting from 22 weeks of gestation until 3 months after giving birth,

ii) This request for assistance is only valid for a period of six (6) months from the date you submit the application. If complete documents are not received within this time period, the application will automatically be rejected;

iv) The application form along with complete supporting documents can be sent to the Divisional/District Social Welfare Office, District Office, or BIB Stewardship Office (Kuching only), Sarawak State.

v) Applications that are incomplete in terms of documents will not be processed.
