Thailand was chosen as the host with three main host locations namely Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
More than 12,500 athletes from across Southeast Asia will compete in 50 sports spanning 574 medal events, making the 2025 edition one of the largest in its history.
As before, Malaysia is expected to field its best squad in the main event while providing opportunities for reserve athletes who have the potential to create surprises and make their country proud on the international stage.

Introduction – SEA Games 2025
The 2025 SEA Games or what is known as the 33rd Southeast Asian Games is the biggest sporting event in the Southeast Asia region which is held every two years under the management of the Southeast Asian Sports Federation (SEAGF).
This year the 2025 SEA Games will also be known as “SEA Games Thailand 2025” because this tournament will be held in Thailand starting from December 9 to 20, 2025 with three main locations as hosts, namely the Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla areas.
This will be Thailand’s seventh SEA Games, Bangkok’s fifth (previously hosting the 1959 SEAP Games, 1967 SEAP Games, 1975 SEAP Games, and 1985 SEA Games), and the first to be held in Chonburi and Songkhla as main hosts.
The 2025 SEA Games will feature around 12,500 athletes from 11 ASEAN member countries who will compete in 574 medal races covering 50 different sports.
The official theme of the Olympics is “Ever Forward” which symbolizes the spirit of relentless progress.
The selection of three host regions makes it possible to hold sporting events such as water events in Chonburi and football and sepak takraw in Songkhla, in addition to major events in Bangkok and the surrounding area.

The official logo and mascot for the 2025 SEA Games Thailand have been launched as part of preparations for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games which will take place from 9 to 20 December 2025 in Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
The following is the meaning behind the official 2025 SEA Games logo and mascot:

The official SEA Games logo was designed by Thiranop Wangsillapakun of TNOP Design.
The concept of the logo is “Play by rule” which symbolizes the principles of discipline and fair play in sports, as well as creativity and innovation that develop within certain limits.
The logo combines a sports field pattern with traditional Thai motifs such as a three-core roof pattern that resembles a burning torch, illustrating the connection between sport, culture and Thai national identity.
Mascot
The official mascot is called “The Sans” which consists of five characters in green, blue, red, yellow and pink which represent the diversity of Thai society.
The mascot design uses geometric patterns inspired by traditional Thai motifs, combining modern elements and Thai cultural identity.
Mascots symbolize celebration, creativity, cultural connection, and the promotion of diversity through sports and community.
On October 7 2025, a new version of “The Sans” mascot was launched, which only features one main mascot representing the spirit of national pride in the colors of the Thai flag, namely red, white and blue.
Even so, the original versions of the five mascots are still used in souvenirs and promotional materials.
Previously, the initial mascot was known as “Mawin”, which is a mythical creature from Thai legend that had the characteristics of an elephant and a fish, but this design has been replaced with a look that is more easily recognized and clearly emphasizes Thailand’s national identity.
