Introduction to Australian Open Badminton
The Australian Badminton Open, which is now known as the SATHIO GROUP Australian Badminton Open, is the most prestigious badminton tournament in Australia and the Oceania region.
With a cash prize of USD$475,000 on offer, this tournament is listed as a BWF Super 500 event in the HSBC BWF World Tour series, making it one of the elite competitions that attracts world-class players.
The tournament is a joint venture between the Sathio Group and the Australian Badminton League, with VICTOR as the main equipment sponsor.
Since its introduction in 1953, the Australian Badminton Open has continued to develop as a stage that presents high-quality action, impressive displays of skill, strategy and sportsmanship.
As Oceania’s largest badminton event, it attracts more than 15,000 spectators and participants during its weekly events. This success was also recognized when the Australian Badminton Open won the 2017 NSW Sporting Event of the Year award from Sport NSW.

The Malaysian squad consists of representatives for singles and men’s/mixed doubles, including Leong Jun Hao, Justin Hoh, K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and others.
