Effective January 1, 2026, JPJ and PDRM lawsuits will be adjusted based on the principle “the less you delay, the less you pay”. There is no longer the practice of seasonal discounts. The reduction is 50% for the first 15 days, 33% for 16-30 days, and full rate for 31-60 days. Court action or blacklisting will be taken after 60 days. Before the start of this new system, road users could settle unpaid claims with a discount of 50%-70% until the end of the year. No discounts will be given for unpaid suits after this period. The summons is intended as a “deterrent” against dangerous driving behavior, not to be levied repeatedly. Ideally, we should cultivate safe driving attitudes so that not only are we not prosecuted, but also for the safety of our families and ourselves. 70% PDRM Suit Discount (1 November – 31 December 2025)

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will offer discounts of up to 70% on traffic fines from 1 November to 30 December 2025. No discounts will be given for unpaid fines after this period.

The government considers this step necessary to provide space and opportunity for the public to settle arrears before implementing the new call payment system starting January 1 2026.

Please note that starting in 2026, the summons payment approach will be standardized as follows:

First 15 days – 50% reduction.
16-30 days – 33% reduction.
31-60 days – No reduction (Must pay in full/maximum rate)
After 60 days – Court action or blacklist

Currently, the total traffic call backlog is estimated at RM6.6 billion. This step not only helps reduce the government’s financial burden, but also encourages people to be more responsible and obey traffic regulations.

After the discount offer period ends, PDRM and the Road Transportation Department (JPJ) will re-evaluate law enforcement actions against those who still fail to pay. At the same time, public awareness campaigns and compliance with traffic regulations will continue to be intensified.
