For National Higher Education Fund Company (PTPTN) borrowers, it is recommended to check travel on the link to find out the status of overseas travel restrictions.
Following are the steps and information regarding this matter.

Travel restrictions due to PTPTN
In line with the presentation of the 2026 APBN, restrictions on overseas travel will come into effect in January 2026 for those who fail to repay PTPTN loans.
However, this limitation will only be imposed on high-income borrowers who are truly in arrears and meet certain criteria set by PTPTN.
Those who have recently graduated or do not have a steady income remain exempt from this restriction.
If such individuals are subject to such travel restrictions, they are not permitted to leave Malaysia and are subject to restrictions on passport applications and renewals by the Malaysian Immigration Department.
Individuals Affected by Travel Restrictions
Overseas travel restrictions will apply to the following borrowers:
- Have arrears of more than 5 years and be able to repay the loan; and/or
- The decision has been recorded in court; and/or
- Work abroad.
